Cesar Duarte is a Mexican politician who served as the governor of the state of Chihuahua from 2010 to 2016. He was a member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and was known for his controversial leadership during his time in office.
Duarte was accused of corruption and mismanagement of public funds during his tenure as governor, with allegations of embezzlement, money laundering, and illicit enrichment. In 2017, he was declared a fugitive from justice after being indicted on corruption charges and fled to the United States to avoid arrest.
In 2020, Duarte was extradited back to Mexico to face corruption charges. He is currently awaiting trial and could face up to 50 years in prison if convicted. Duarte's case has been seen as a symbol of Mexico's ongoing struggle with corruption and impunity in its political system.
